چکیده

Reliable stock identification constitutes an integral component of effective fishery management. Current methods for the putative units comprise analysis both phenotypic and genetic variability. The present study examined spatial variation in otolith morphology (shape asymmetry) composition 395 wild-caught Gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) specimens, collected from Aegean Ionian Seas (eastern Mediterranean) between 2014–2018. degree scale regeneration (SRD, % regenerated scales) was used as indicator to assess potential presence aquaculture escapees samples. Otolith shape asymmetry analyses showed a discrimination northwestern populations. Genetic nine microsatellite markers revealed higher levels wild compared with samples obtained farms. Despite absence structure among populations, low but statistically significant differentiation found reared fish field. SRD considered detecting that may have escaped either early or late rearing phases.

Environmental Conditioning of Skeletal Anomalies Typology and Frequency in Gilthead Seabream (Sparus aurata L., 1758) Juveniles

In this paper, 981 reared juveniles of gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) were analysed, 721 of which were from a commercial hatchery located in Northern Italy (Venice, Italy) and 260 from the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (Crete, Greece). These individuals were from 4 different egg batches, for a total of 10 different lots. Each egg batch was split into two lots after hatching, and reared...

The complete mitochondrial genome of the gilthead seabream Sparus aurata L. (Sparidae).

The complete mitochondrial genome of the gilthead seabream Sparus aurata Linnaeus 1758, one of the world's most important mariculture species, was sequenced using next generation sequencing technology. The genome sequence is comprised of 16,652 bp exhibiting the canonical vertebrate mitochondria gene order. Regions of gene overlap, tRNA length, as well as start and stop codon were similar to th...

A role for acidophilic granulocytes in the testis of the gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata L., Teleostei).

In mammals, a complex interaction between the immune and the reproductive systems has been described, in which testicular immune cells produce cytokines and growth factors which modulate gonad functions, while specific gonad cells influence the immune response in this organ. In this study we describe the presence of acidophilic granulocytes in the testis of the hermaphrodite teleost fish gilthe...
